It has been awhile since I wrote on Lost. It is really hard to believe that the episodes are still getting better and better. We definitely reached the apex of outstanding questions before the beginning of this season and I love how stuff is coming unraveled and revealed. So here are a few quick thoughts:
As for the people that didn't made it to 1977:
Ben - of course he can't be in the same time period as "little" Ben, so the island didn't bring him back to 1977.
Charolette - I assume that she is already on the Island also (she mentioned she remembered it as a child). By looks alone I think she was around 30-ish or about the same age as Ethan so either she will be born, or is a baby at this time and eventually will make it to the island. So unfortunatly for her the island had to kill her off before the jump to 1977 for the "Locke" crew.
Sun - The wife and I discussed this one last night and we are both pretty sure that Sun didn't make 'the jump' because she had the baby. If she were to go back 30 years and somehow be killed, her baby would never be born and timespace itself would be royal-t f'd.
which begs the question though....
Why was Jin able to go back? My guess is Julliet was wrong (or either lied) that the baby was not actually his, but was Powder's.
I am still greatly confused about Captain Lapedis though. Was he not able to make the jump because he was meant to land the plane (and those people that are there with a crippled Linus) are supposed to be important?
It was odd that Hurley mentioned the Gassing of the people by Linus when he was talking with Sawyer when they got to the island. Linus is a good deal older when that happens so that must be a decent ways into the future.
But what does happen "soon" was "The Incident" that Rousou and the tapes refer to during season 2 (ish?). My guess is that this is going to be when the surving 1977 people spin the captain's wheel and make the jump back (or further) to present time.
I am interested to see if Miles "power" somehow comes from the island during his 1977 jaunt.
Where does "current/alive" Locke fit into all this? Is he supposed to keep Ben alive? Why was he not allowed to go back to 1977?
Also, as soon as Sawyer asked Juliet for his "bulldog" sweatshirt, I assumed it was a UGA sweatshirt. Josh Holloway went to UGA for sometime (not sure if he graduated or not). Great little addition to the show.
