Today’s sysadmin todo list:
0. Get corporate membership with EFF.
1. Identify all applications with user-generated content.
2. Move all associated domains to a non-US based registrar.
3. Migrate DNS, web serving and other critical services to non-US based servers.
4. Migrate yourself to a non-US controlled country.
I’m sorry for US sites and users. Your government is hell-bent on turning the internet into a read-only device like TV, easily regulated and controlled. The population will be required to sit quietly and keep their eyes glued on the screen so they don’t miss the ads, with any infringers deemed terrorists and pedophiles and thus deserving of summary punishment by DHS squads.
Hopefully the internet will route around the damaged segment, and the rest of us can continue to enjoy the amazing interactivity it has brought our society.

When we look back in 20 years about the downfall of America’s entrepreneurial class I hope there is no question about how the government and large corporations destroyed the people’s ability to compete.

There are no truer words than:

“Your government is hell-bent on turning the internet into a read-only device like TV, easily regulated and controlled.”

The rest of the world used to look at our attempts to regulate the internet and prop up dying business models as a joke, the joke is now over and we are just going to be segregated and ignored.

We wouldn’t let that happen,” Albarn said in an interview with the Associated Press last week. “And not that they’ve asked us because they haven’t, and now they definitely won’t,” he continued with a laugh.

To hit the marks on time and effectively “play” the song, one of the band members wrote a computer program to convert musical bars into miles per hour. The speeds were not high: about 35 mph during the chorus and 17 to 22 mph on other sections of the track. But Kulash wasn’t watching his speedometer as he drove. He had a visual downbeat reference in dropped beanbags marked with flags, plus a metronome in the car.

Love Interruption - Jack White

reblog thursday brings us Jack White solo work courtesy of Andy Weissman

newspeedwayboogie:

Gorgeous song, and love the way he describes his new record:

“an album I couldn’t have released until now. I’ve put off making records under my own name for a long time but these songs feel like they could only be presented under my name. These songs were written from scratch, had nothing to do with anyone or anything else but my own expression, my own colors on my own canvas.

Jack White - Love Interruption

Jack White has announced a new 7” and LP on Third Man Records. This track is straight out of the 70s with ringy keys, understated rhythm guitar, clean vocals and… is that an oboe? I love it. Can’t wait to hear more.

Absolutely one of my favorite albums as of late.   Whole thing is great top to bottom.   Goes from electric pop (Easy Way Out)  to 60s (I Feel Better)  to Trent Reznor-eque (Don’t Worry We Will Be Watching You)   to 80’s Fitter.Happier (State of the Art) to (as Lindz claims) Michael McDonald.   Amazingly diverse and awesome album.
