The idea for “Good Eats” came up in 1992. I remember sitting in my office and writing down on a piece of paper, “Julia Child, Mr. Wizard, Monty Python.” I remember thinking, “Man, I could really make something out that.” But we didn’t shoot the pilot until 1997, so you can see it really took some time.
I was mentally taking inventory of the few TV shows I would still like to watch if we ditched cable completely (Good Eats is on that short list) and came to find out that Alton Brown was the photography director on REM’s “The One I Love” video (he is a UGA grad and lives only a few miles away). Small world.
