I have been playing guitar off an on for about 12 years now, I always assumed that this would be the next step after Rock Band/Guitar Hero for a lot of people and I was eager to see where it would come from.  I had thought that it would be from Gibson as they seem to be a stride ahead of most guitar companies on the tech integration front (I would LOVE to have a Gibson Robot of my own :) but I am amazed to see that it is going to be from a software company.  This is almost certainly a better option for people that actually want to play because, if a specific guitar company ever came out with something like the above, I am sure that it would be a proprietary system that only worked by their design (and guitars), where as the above video for Guitar Rising looks like it is guitar agnostic (as long as it is an electric) which is pretty kick ass.

You can sign me up for this (I already have the gear :) as long as it is reasonably priced.  I am really interested in hearing more about it.  You can keep up with it at the Guitar Rising Website.

On the drum front, I have never been able to keep a decent beat on drums before we purchased Rock Band.  Since the 360 got the old Red Light of Death since we have been waiting on the replacement I have been hooking up the Rock Band drum kit to the PC and using pretty much what amounts to software that is just synths any .wav or .mp3 I want.  This is pretty cool because I can play along with songs that I a listening to on Anywhere.fm/Itunes and I can get the EXACT sounds for each of the 4 different pads I want.   So I am not TOTALLY Rock Band less until the 360 gets fixed and sent back from Microsoft.  Although I have to admit, I do feel for our Lead Singer, she only has Puzzle Quest to keep her busy on the video game front as of right now.
