Joel and I were discussing the new Jack Johnson Album that was released today (more on that in another post - with graphs!) but Joel also mentioned that Lenny Kravitz had a new album that came out today, which brought up the subject about a question of what period in time was the time did Lenny Kravitz become uncool, or did he ever?  To be fair, I think any red blooded male thought he was pretty much the shit when he was flailing his dreads around in the 'Are You Gonna Go My Way' Video, and and mac'ing on Denise Huxtable-Kendell.  I know that video for me personally gave me the impression that all really nice music theatres had half domes of light bulbs and cool looking people dancing on a silver stage (I was sorely let down upon subsequent visits to Hifi-Lakewood-Your-Telling-Me-There-Is-Only-One-Road-Out-Of-This-Place-That-Everyone-Has-To-Exit-From-Amplitheatre).

I really loved Are You Gonna Go My Way as an album though.  Joel sent me over a wikipedia link and I found that I could pretty much hum every one of the songs from in grained memory even though I had not heard the entire CD in years.  I put forth into the discussion that I think that his rise of coolness from this album, might have actually been his undoing, as his Record Co.  more than likely wanted his next albums to be 12 variations of Are You Gonna Go My Way (Title Track).  Although that song was great, I think I personally thought Believe and Heaven Help might be the gems of the record.

Regardless,  I may give Lenny another try with today's release of It is Time For a Love Revolution.
