I don't know the exact details on this, but from what I understand this was the premiere of "The Water Horse" over in Japan. At the premiere event, they created a moving 3D version of the title character and paraded it around the Tokyo Bay. This is pretty astonishing really. Below is a few photos and then a YouTube video of the event. I am assuming that they just shot a bunch of mist and were able to calculate the reflections on that mist of laster that were directed at it and just moved them all in sync. That must have a.) been a pretty amazing feat calculating the reflections because of just natural things that could change the water table from day to day (storms etc) b.) Some pretty amazing mist makers that could power the water that high AND get it that exact and c.) great programing to keep all the laser in sync (assuming there have to be more than one for it to be 3D and scene all around the bay.
Pretty badass.
