The first time I saw Rudy Ray Moore I came back home from a night of drinking with some former coworkers at a Petstore I used to work at in college.   Most of Athens had gone back to their respective homes for Xmas for a good 2 or 3 weeks (I think this was during Quarters, before Semesters) and I had stayed in Athens to work and to make some extra flow.  It was definitely after xmas, but probably in the few days before New Years and my friend Noel and I had taken a cab back to an apartment I shared with D and Noel had already passed out on the couch.    I remember not being able to sleep so I sat and was flipping channels and this movie came on.  I distinctly remember it because it was extremely racial and absolutely hysterical.  The devil had granted this guy a choice, he could either stay in hell or go back and marry this extremely ugly girl.  The movie was hazy but I remember (along with the chemicals) absolutely laughing my ass off the entire time, half because it was funny and the other half because I couldn't believe what I was seeing/hearing on the TV.  Petey Wheatstraw still cracks me up to this day just thinking about it.  We got our Netflix account probably 3 or 4 years ago and I remember along with Bond movies, going through Rudy Ray Moore's back catalog of Dolemite-ish films.    Yeah they were blaxploitation and I will be the first to admit I didn't get all the jokes, but never the less it still cracked me up to no end.

Sad to see him go.
